WNDR Field Trip to WBTV
We had a great trip today. The students represented AL Brown in a professional manner and we all learned quite a bit. Brittany Klutz, Zack Campbell, and Eddie Cervantes were even lucky enough to land a few minutes on air with Keith Larson during his NewsTalk WBT radio show. We weren't on TV but we were in the studio during the live broadcast of the 12 O'clock news.
You can listen to our students online at http://www.wbt.com/larson/index.aspx , click on "listen now", go to "1.9.13 hour 3" and from 22 mins to 28:15 |

Students from Concord High School and A.L. Brown in Kannapolis to shoot, write and edit the documentary. Teacher Jonathan Greene believes his students will get so much more out of the project than just hands-on experience.
"I think it's important if they're going to live in an area they understand the history," he said.
It means even more to Holly Maness, 17.
“My grandma, she got to work in the mill," she said. "I've definitely learned a lot more about what it was like and how different it is from today."

Jonathan Greene, A.L. Brown’s digital media teacher, said he was thrilled when Leadership Cabarrus approached him about getting students involved in the making of the documentary.
“We’ve worked on several side projects before, but nothing this big,” he said. “I was really excited about the project because this is a real-world application of what they’re learning.”
Greene said students from his Digital Media II and WNDR News classes were in charge of everything from the set design to running all the audio and video equipment.
“They’ve even done a lot of directing,” he said.
After filming wraps up, the students will also be editing the footage down into the finished documentary, which will debut at the Gem Theatre on May 22.
