Kannapolis City Schools was honored with two awards for outstanding communications during the North Carolina School Public Relations Association's (NCSPRA) annual Blue Ribbon Awards ceremony in Durham on January 27th.
NCSPRA honored Kannapolis City Schools for its video, The Future of NC Students, which was produced in the spring of 2011. The video highlighted the success of NC public schools and stressed the need to maintain adequate funding for NC public education. The video earned a Blue Ribbon Award in the outstanding electronic media category. The judges’ comments included, “This is a professionally created video that is one of the best we’ve judged.” Video production students at A.L. Brown High School shot and edited the video under the guidance of Digital Media teacher, Jonathan Greene. Greene accepted the award along with Ellen Boyd. The system’s employee e-newsletter, KCS CLASSifieds, was honored for its content, writing, and design. Entries were judged by the Georgia School Public Relations Association.
